How does Phone Account Work?
Phone Account is a secure, password-protected authentication method that can be used to identify consumers during a Phone Account transaction. With the Phone Account simple click-and-buy payment method, your privacy is protected, and you receive your digital goods immediately.

At a merchant's website, you select a digital good or service for purchase and authorize Phone Account as your payment method. Your computer automatically connects to a special purchase number that charges the purchase amount to your telephone bill. You receive the good or service immediately after completing your transaction. It's that simple.

How does Phone Account know who I am? Phone Account uses proprietary security technology similar to Caller I.D. to identify your telephone number via a Public Switched Network. This is all the information that's needed to charge your online purchase to your telephone bill.
Is Phone Account secure? Yes. Phone Account eliminates the need to enter and exchange financial information - such as credit card numbers - over the Internet, creating a secure purchasing environment.
Is Phone Account Private? Phone Account does not require you to fill out any forms or enter any personal information. Your telephone number is identified through a service called Automatic Number Identification, which is all the information that's needed to charge your online purchase to your telephone bill.
How do I know which merchants will let me use the Phone Product?
Online merchants will provide their customers with a choice of payment options that they will accept for the payment. If the online merchant is an Phone Account merchant, then you will see the Phone Account payment button as one of the payment options during the check out process. Simply select the Phone Account and proceed with the completion of your purchase. Your Phone Account Account software does all of the work for you.
Will the merchant have my phone number?
No. Your telephone number is identified through a service called Automatic Number Identification, which is all the information that's needed to charge your online purchase to your telephone bill. eCharge² does not share your telephone number or any other personal information with the merchant.
Does my phone company know you are doing this?
Absolutely. Phone Account works very closely with over 1300 phone companies across the country to first qualify each online merchant and then to gain phone company approval for the billing and collection of digital products and services made available to you for purchase.
What browsers can I use?
Phone Account supports Microsoft XP, AOL and Fire Fox.
Can I use your system from work?
Phone Account uses a feature called Travel Account that allows consumers to make purchases from a different phone line other than the registered phone number account. To charge an online purchase amount to the user's phone bill from a different location, the user will need to enter the "user name" and "pass phrase" previously selected during the Phone Account set up process.
Is there a dollar limit on my Phone Account purchases? As long as your telephone account is in good standing, you can purchase products with Phone Account.
What will show up on my telephone bill?
Your Phone Account purchase total will show up as a third party bill charge on your telephone bill and include information on the online merchant provider and the date and time of the transaction.
Do I need to fill out a credit application? No. Phone Account does not require you to enter any personal or financial information. All you need is a current telephone account.
Do I need special software to use Phone Account?
If you are a first time Phone Account user, your computer will automatically download the Phone Account client software. This takes approximately 90 seconds on a 28.8 Kbps modem. This free download is good for all future Phone Account purchases.
